O.A.A.S. Hand Quilt Competition
Eligibility Rules and Regulations:
1. Entries must be solely made and hand quilted by the exhibitor and exhibited and judged at the local O.A.A.S. fair to be eligible for this competition.
2. Entry quilts must be have a minimum perimeter of 324″ (smaller quilts will not be eligible to proceed to the next level of competition).
3. Judging will occur at local fair and district levels.
4. A Provincial Grand Champion Quilt will be selected at the annual convention of O.A.A.S.
5. Upon making an entry into the O.A.A.S. quilt competition the exhibitor agrees to participate in any promotional activities related to the competition.
6. The winning O.A.A.S. Champion quilt will not be eligible to compete in any future District and/or O.A.A.S. convention competitions.
7. The winners name and pattern will be displayed at the fair on a sign provided by O.A.A.S.
O.A.A.S. Machine Quilt/Wall Hanging Competition
Eligibility Rules and Regulations:
1. Entries must be solely made and machine quilted by individual
and exhibited and judged at a local O.A.A.S. fair to be eligible for
this competition.
2. Entry quilt/wall hanging to be measured on the perimeter
(total perimeter measurement to be 192′ or larger)
Note the article can be square, rectangular etc.
3. Judging will occur at local fair and district levels.
4. A Provincial Grand Champion Machine Quilted Article will be
selected at the Annual O.A.A.S. Convention. Upon making entry into
the O.A.A.S. Machine Quilting/Wall Hanging Competition, the Exhibitor
agrees to participate in any promotional activities related to the competition.
5. The winning O.A.A.S. Champion Machine Quilted Article will not be
eligible to compete in any future District and/or O.A.A.S. Provincial competition.
6. The winner′s name is to be displayed at the Fair on a sign
provided by O.A.A.S.
7. The entry must not be quilted using a long arm machine and must
be machine quilted by the Exhibitor.
8. Article must have visible machine quilting.
Local Fair Competitions
Eligibility Rules and Regulations:
1. Hand made quilts must be at least 324′
2. Machine quilts must be a minimum of 192″
3. Quilts winning first prize at local fairs are entered in competition
at the District Annual Meeting.
4. The first place winner from the District competition is eligible to
enter the O.A.A.S. competition at the annual convention. A $500.00 GRAND PRIZE
and $150.00 reserve quilt prize will be awarded and the exhibitors will retain
ownership of the quilt.
5. A certificate and ribbon will also be awarded to the winners. If an
Exhibitor wins GRAND CHAMPION or BEST OF SHOW OF ALL CLASSES at other than
his/her own fair, or at more than one fair, the Exhibitor must consider the
Agricultural Society nearest his/her home address as the one from which the
quilt will be sent to the District Meeting.
6. In addition, prizes of $25.00 for 1st; $15.00 for 2nd;and $10.00 for
3rd will be awarded to each district.
Class 34
Rules and Regulations:
1. All domestic goods (sewing & crafts) must be work of the exhibitors.
2. Judges are authorized to disqualify soiled, worn or inappropriate items.
3. Each exhibitor may have only one entry per section.
4. All work may be shown for not more than 2 years.
5. In cases of no competition, the prize will be withheld unless the exhibit
is worthy of a prize.
Entries must be ticketed and placed by 11:30am. Sept. 9th, 2011. THIS RULE WILL BE STRICTLY ENFORCED.
6. Safety pins, no straight pins for attaching samples or tickets to an
article.
7. All yarn items to be sample of main colour attached.
8. Yarn samples or samples of materials used are required as part of your
entry and should be securely fastened or entry will not be accepted.
